1010: Core Consciousness
Consciousness used to just be a hippie word among the “Flower power!” people. Now, it’s mainstream, and we’re tapping into consciousness and awareness like never before.
A few years ago, you could have mentioned consciousness to me, and I would have said, “Whooooooooa. Let’s not get woo woo.”
Now I am a conductor, “All aboard the woo woo train!”
Why the shift? Because even though I was a happy person, I had no idea of the power of living in Spirit and consciousness. The power for profound peace.
In psychology, consciousness is the awareness of oneself and the world around you, including your thoughts, feelings, memories, sensations, and environments.
In Buddhism, consciousness is a temporary process of mental events that is impermanent and conditioned. It is also considered to be without a permanent entity. The word "consciousness" in Buddhism comes from the Sanskrit word vijnana and refers to a person's self-awareness and their ability to recognize the various energies that influence their lives.
In Christianity, consciousness can mean awareness of God and our connection to and the ability to walk in step with Spirit. It includes the belief that we are all ONE and interconnected by the Creator.
Christ Core Consciousness Teaching:
Matthew 5-7 is labeled “The Sermon on the Mount.” It’s not really a sermon but a collection of his teachings to his disciples on a hillside. It reveals his conscious principles and practices outside of individual encounters, which we will cover at some point.
What does Christ consciousness mean? It is a term that has become popular among spiritual seekers and can include multiple attributes such as:
1. Universal love and compassion: Loving God, ourselves, and others. Loving all of creation.
2. Unity with the divine: Instead of a belief that Spirit is far off somewhere, there is a close oneness (as we talked about last week.)
3. Transcendence of ego: Reaching a higher spiritual consciousness without the attachment to desires and fears.
4. Expanded awareness and spiritual insight: We begin to see and listen with the spirit of the Christ. Our perspectives and perceptions shift to those of love and peace, regardless of the situation.
5. A sense of oneness with all creation: Instead of thinking, “This is my life, and I can do what I want,” our thoughts and actions reflect what serves the greatest good for all things created.
Man, all those words were so easy to type! 🙂 There’s a lot of awareness and intention that goes into walking that out in life.
If you’re interested in diving deeper into His consciousness, I’m starting a video series called “Core Christ Consciousness” next week. It’s a walk through Matthew 5-7 with some surprising angles. If you grew up going to church or if you have read the scriptures and think the teachings in the passage are obvious, you’ll definitely be interested in what the Teacher reveals. 🙂
If Matthew 5-7 is new to you, here’s a link to the passage. However, if you read ahead, some of the sections might seem pretty rigid or even confusing.
Have an amazing week of light and love.
Blessings!
Paul
