Wise & Foolish Builders
Wow! Episode 13 in the Christ Consciousness series from the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7.)
We’ve covered a lot of ground, and this final episode is, in fact, about ground!
24 “Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”
Do you know why I can’t play the guitar? I never practiced. I had a guitar for a while. Possessed one. I even watched some videos and made some feeble chord attempts. But I didn't practice, so I can't play.
Christ Consciousness is not just about entering a zen meditative state and then allowing peace to wash over you.
It's about putting that conscious connection into practice.
Practice prepares us for the storm (the game of life.)
Practice is being a wise builder who constructs a home on stone. Literally, on a cliff of solid rock far above the floods.
Taking construction (consciousness) classes and retreats to meditate about building a new home isn't all that is required. It’s like building on sand.
This is not sand on the seashore. It’s sand in a wadi. A wadi is a valley, ravine, or channel that is dry except in the rainy season. It appears to be solid ground. Possibly good to build on. But when the rainy season comes, everything is washed away.
That’s what happens when we construct our life on conscious thoughts but not conscious practices.
This series focused on the thoughts and teachings of the Christ. Our next series will focus on his conscious practices.
Until next week, check out the episode on the wise and foolish builders!
How Not to Care What Other People Think About You - Part 2
The second episode of this series is about the Care Clocks.
Two clocks…
A count-up clock you use to time your thinking on what other people think about you.
A count-down clock that allows you to obsess as much as you want on what other people think about you. But there’s a twist in using it! ;)
Check out the episode. It's short and will help you to stop, or at least care less, what other people think and say about you.
QUESTion
What teaching or philosophy have you felt emotionally connected to but haven’t implemented yet, and what is the holdback?
Blessings!
Paul
