True or False + How Not to Care What Other People Think About You
True or False
“Three truths and a lie” is a game where players share four statements about themselves, three of which are true and one is a lie, and the other players try to guess which is which.
Let’s play! Which of these is the lie from my life…
#1 I’ve been detained and accused of being CIA in a foreign country.
#2 I was given a cow's head as the guest of honor at a dinner.
#3 I competed in bodybuilding in my early 20’s.
#4 I’ve swam with whales in the Sea of Cortez.
Part of the fin of the game is that the lie is often the statement that seems the most possible. The power of a lie is that it appears true.
The Christ Consciousness in Matthew 7:15-23 is to watch for the true or false prophets and disciples.
Both of these groups are influencers. People listen to leaders and to followers.
True and False Prophets
Jesus cautions against getting drawn toward people who “come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.” The prophet appears to want to graze with the flock when he really wants to feed on them.
The motive isn't clear based on the disguise… based on the lie.
Switching metaphors, Christ basically says, “You know what doesn’t lie? Trees and fruit.” A healthy tree produces healthy fruit. An unhealthy tree, produces unhealthy fruit.
We have to take a beat and examine the fruit of the one calling us to better pastures.
True and False Disciples.
Jesus goes on to mention those who are doing amazing things in his name. This appears to be healthy fruit. There’s real evidence because lives are changing.
The miracles and “many wonderful works” are the sheep’s clothing.
“‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!” is what they will hear.
Christi is saying that it’s easy to lie on the outside, but the truth on the inside is what counts.
In this week’s look consciousness of Christ episode, we look at three things to examine with prophets, including the fruit that the Spirit produces. Watch here.
How Not to Care What Other People Think or Say About You
Not caring what others think or say about you appears to be simple for some and harder for others.
In this series, we will talk about how to stop caring about what other people think or say about you.
One of the most common bits of advice around this topic is to “consider the source.”
That is usually based on asking whether the relationship with this person warrants paying attention to what they think about you.
However, when we do this, we still remain focused on the external. We have to enter a place of judgment to determine if they should be considered or not.
However, when we go internal, we can consider 3 Sources…
Source 1 - The Self
Source 2 - The Soul
Source 3 - The Source
Using the exercises and thoughts in this video may help you place more weight on internal sources, which can help you stop caring what other people think or say about you.
QUESTion
What lie have you been believing about yourself and need to turn to the truth about yourself?
Blessings!
Paul
P.S. I’ve never swam in the Sea of Cortez

The 1010 Life Letter is a weekly life and spiritual growth update based on the spirit of John 10:10 "…I have come that you may have life and have it to the full!”
As a student of scripture and spirituality for almost half a century I share what I am discovering about living with joy and peace. The purpose is to translate ancient texts into context and integrate to experience a 1010 life.
